Here are a few content management frameworks we work with regularly.
1. Joomla
This is a very popular open source content management system which has won a number of industry awards. The ease of use and the extensibility of joomla makes it very popular and with good reason.
So why use joomla
- Very user friendly – you can edit content easily
- Can create members only section – very handy for paid sections of your site you want only members to have access to
- No limit to the size of your site – you can have as many number of pages as you want
- No ongoing costs as it is open source there are no licensing fees and well supported
- A lot of third party extensions to add extra functionality
2. Modx
This is an up and coming content management content that has won some recognition as the most promising open source content management system. It has gained popularity and continues to grow.
Why use modx ?
- Very user friendly – it very easy to add content as well as upload new material
- Standards complaint – the particular care taken in ensuring that web standards are met right from the onset makes this CMS accessible with no loss of quality on all major browsers.

- A whole lot more
3. Plone
A very good quality open source content management framework that is well suited for building corporate website and intranets.
- It is very user friendly
- Powerful work flow ending , its speed and scalability is awesome
- Fine grained security
- Standards complaint
- Mature – plone has been in use for over 5yrs very popular in the non profit community
There a number of other content management systems that we utilise but the above three are by far the most regularly used at d30web.
